The appeal of Sandra's music was again confirmed by the results of the Unisong International Songwriting contest, announced June 30, 2007. "Wolf Among the Sheep" was named as a finalist in the Blues category, while "Throwaway Woman" received the finalist designation in a new category, L.U.N.C.H. (songs describing social ills such as poverty or hunger). Sandra received honorable mentions in the Rock, AAA/Americana, and Blues categories with "I'm Not Listening", "December", and "Move On", respectively.
Sandra's work was broadly recognized June 30, 2006, when results of the 2005 Unisong International Songwriting contest were announced.
Two of Sandra's songs placed in the top 20 in their categories ("Danny Jones" in Blues/Jazz and "Dollars to Donuts" in Uptempo Pop). In addition, 5 of her pieces received honorable mentions: "Work in Progress" in Uptempo Pop; "Jump On" in Rock/Alternative Rock; "Horses" in AAA/Americana; "(My) Lost Time" in Acoustic/Folk; and, "I Love America More Than You" in Social/Political.
Although this was the first contest Sandra entered, Unisong has been around since 1997. Several thousand songs were submitted for judging - from over 90 different countries.
In July and November (2006), the Song of the Year Contest named two of Sandra's songs, "Work in Progress" and "December" as finalists in the Adult Contemporary and Folk categories. Each song ranked in the top five. In December (2006), Sandra's songs "We're All Right" and "How Lucky Am I" were named runners up in the international Song of the Year contest.
Sandra's song, "Jump On" was chosen as a finalist in the Rock/Alt category of the annual Great American Song Contest in March 2007. "Life All Over" was chosen as a finalist in the Adult Contemporary category in Song of the Year's June (2007) round.
